Travel Nurses Are in High Demand - They Earn a Lot and See the World
By Ugur Akinci
Travel nurses are a special breed of healthcare workers. In this century of retiring Baby Boomers who need an increasing number of health services, there simply is not enough nurses and travel nurses to go around.
A recent study in Arizona, for example, conducted by Cochise College Center for Economic Research revealed that by 2015, Arizona will need 58% more nurses. The numbers are similar for all other regions of the USA.
The result: travel nurses are making a lot more money than average service professionals, They serve in those medical facilities where they are most needed on short-term contracts. They get to travel frequently and see a lot of fantastic places in the United States and around the world as well. It is almost a case of having one's cake and eating it too.
Here are just a few of the rich benefits that a number of travel nurse staffing agencies provide for their travel nurses:
Full and free medical and dental coverage starting day number one – if a nurse is sick or not healthy, that's not good for the the nurse staffing agency or the client facility which hires that nurse. Thus there are a lot of travel nurses who enjoy 100% paid full medical and dental (and sometimes even vision) coverage from Day One.
Highly competitive hourly rates -- The above mentioned Arizona study quoted “an average wage of $25 per hour in 2005,” for nurses “placing them in the top 25 percent of wage earners.”
If you would like to have a satisfying and richly rewarding career you might consider becoming a travel nurse, one of the most sought out careers of our day.
